ELECTROCHEMICAL ENGINEER INTERN

 

Job Description:

An Electrochemical Engineer Intern will be responsible for engineering activities, as well as research and development in collaboration with the scientific team on projects. He or she makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results. Electrochemical Engineer Intern could prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses. An incumbent maintains familiarity with current scientific literature and contributes to the process of a project within his or her scientific discipline, as well as investigating, creating, and developing new methods and technologies for project advancement. He or she may also be responsible for identifying patentable inventions and conducting his or her own experiments. An Electrochemical Engineer Intern will also be asked to participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researches and collects data through complex laboratory/scientific experiments, techniques, and procedures; library research; structures interviews; or through other means for research projects.

  • Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques.

  • Researches design, experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments.

  • Reports on status of research activities.

  • Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance. Schedules and coordinates research activities.

  • Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus. Modifies equipment according to experimental specifications.

  • Ensure consistency between requirements, implementation, and V&V methods throughout the project.

  • Work closely with program managers to ensure the milestones are reached on time.

  • Provide engineering support to resolve issues and assist with process optimization and QA/QC.

  • Contribute to the development of new simulation models, resp. improvement of existing ones.

  • May monitor hazardous work areas and laboratory safety. Prepares related reports.

  • Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.

Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to commit at least 15 to 20 hours per week.

  • 3rd and 4th-year students and recent grads in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or related majors

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated

  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and biohazard safety a plus

  • Good understanding of basic electrochemistry principles.

  • Limited knowledge of the company's organizational policies and procedures.
